Mystic Aquarium
From Microcosm Aquarium Explorer
[edit] Overview
The Aquarium is home to a huge variety of animals, and it is one of only four aquaria in North America where visitors can see Stellar Sea Lions (theirs is named Kodiak). They maintain exhibits as diverse as animals of the Arctic Coast and a ray touch pool. They also do animal rescue.
[edit] Fluorescent corals
This exhibit is one of the first of its kind in the U.S., and it showcases fabulous, glow-in-the dark corals. Alongside the specimens are signs extolling the potential scientific virtues of fluorescence. It is both a visual phenomenon and a unique learning experience.
[edit] Noah’s Shipwreck
Another neat exhibit here is the replica of a shipwreck found in 1999 off the coast of Turkey when the Institute for Exploration went looking for evidence of Noah’s Flood. The wreck was featured in a National Geographic special. Included in the exhibit are cooking pots and amphorae that once held wine and olive oil.
