This a wonderful aquarium fish and the hardier of two similar species, the other being Forcipiger longirostris, the Big Longnose Butterflyfish.

Habitat: Reef, often under ledges and in caves, where it frequently orients its belly toward the walls or ceilings.

Water: Marine 21 °C (294 K, 70 °F) - 27 °C (300 K, 81 °F)
General swimming level: All levels.

Carnivore. Offer mysid shrimp, frozen carnivore preparations, marine fish and crustacean flesh. Feed 2-3 times daily.
[edit] Aquarium Compatibility
May pick at coral polyps, especially large-polyp stony corals. Will often behave aggressively toward others of its own species. Keep singly except in larger systems.

Pelagic spawner. Captive breeding not yet recorded.

This is a very wide-ranging reef fish, absent only from the tropical Atlantic and Caribbean.
