Although highly appealing, this fish is destined to starve in most aquariums and should be avoided by all but the most advanced aquarists. It is one of many members of the butterflyfish family with a specialized diet demanding a constant supply of live coral polyps.

Native range:

Habitat: Sheltered bays, lagoons, inshore reefs with profuse Acropora spp. coral growth.

Maximum length: 12 cm (5 in)

Minimum aquarium size: 285 L (75 gal)

Water: Marine 24 °C (297 K, 75 °F) - 28 °C (301 K, 82 °F)

General swimming level: Midwater to bottom.
