Osteoglossidae
From Microcosm Aquarium Explorer
[edit] Overview
The arowanas (variously known as arrowanas, aruanas and arawanas) are big, sinuous, predators that captivate aquarists.
Unfortunately, there are no dwarf arowana species and any would-be owner must be prepared to house a fish that will outgrow most home aquariums, while eating any and all tankmates if given the chance.
- Subfamily Heterotidinae
- Subfamily Osteoglossinae (Arowanas and African butterflyfish)
