Overview

Much liked by some cichlid enthusiasts for its strong character, this fish is known to others as simply a "killer"—a species that has been known to attack and eat even heavily armored large Plecostomus tankmates.

Best kept in a species tank, the larger the better. Alternatively, some aquarists try to keep in crowds of other tough African cichlids together so that the aggression is diffused in all the chaos.

A threat to most other fishes, invertbrates, and plants. Will eat hardshelled snails.
