Clarias gariepinus, North African or Bighead Catfish. JJPhoto.dk

[edit] Overview

Some of these big, rugged catfishes are banned from the U.S. and other areas because of the threat they pose to become unwelcome introduced species. As airbreathers, they are capable of moving from one body of water to another overland.

They are voracious predators and pose a potential threat to native species.
