HIGHFIN GOBIES

These larger sand-dwelling gobies are interesting to watch and fairly proficient at keeping the upper layers of a sand bed agitated.

Keep just one per tank unless the aquarium is large. Their robust size means that they are likely to bully a wider range of goby tankmates. Still, they are shy gobies and will need good hiding places on the sand bed (like a cave or overhang).

Target feeding may be necessary to ensure they get enough to eat. They will quickly decimate worm populations in a shallow sand bed. They are less likely to bury corals than the Valenciennea species and are also not as likely to jump out of a tank (although this may happen if they are pestered by more aggressive fishes).
