SPECKLED SHRIMP GOBIES

Members of the genus Ctenogobiops are smaller gobies, many of them very similar in appearance, and all are species that make great additions to the small, passive community tank.

These fishes are found in the wild on silty sand, coarse sand, or mixed sand/rubble bottoms on or near coral reefs.

The speckled shrimp gobies are not a threat to any invertebrates and will not bother fish tankmates, except for other members in their own genus. The speckled shrimp gobies can be kept in pairs, although members of the same sex will fight if they are housed in a smaller tank. The tank should be large enough so that pairs, or individuals of the same sex, are able to have at least 16 in. (41 cm) between their burrows.
