Wheeler’s Shrimp Goby

This is one of the more colorful members of the genus and regularly shows up in aquarium stores. It is a hardy aquarium fish, but will sometimes jump out of a tank if disturbed.
The color of this species varies depending on the color of the substrate where it is found. Those living on lighter sand have bright red bands on the body, while those found on dark sand have burgundy-colored bands.

Native range:
Habitat: In the wild, this species occurs in pairs and is commonly found in patches of coarse carbonate or volcanic sand of outer lagoon and seaward reefs.

Meaty foods, including finely shredded frozen seafood, mysid shrimp, frozen preparations, pigment-enriched flake food, and Cyclop-eeze. Feed at least once a day or preferably twice a day.

It is rarely aggressive, and males and females will pair up in even small aquariums.
