Tiger Lotus
From Microcosm Aquarium Explorer
A miniature water lily for larger aquaria. GNU
[edit] Overview
This miniature water lily variety is a favorite of many aquarists with room to house a fast-growing centerpiece species. Not fussy about water conditions, it will throw up new leaves with astonishing speed, with the pads reaching the water's surface in a matter of days, even in meter (yard)-deep aquaria.
Colors range from green to dappled reddish brown, occasionally with purple splotches.
It will flower with a true night-blooming water lily blossom if given space and nutrients, treating its keeper to a delicate floral aroma.

Minimum aquarium size: 152 L (40 gal)

[edit] Feeding
A well-fertilized substrate will support healthy growth.
[edit] Aquarium Compatibility
Should not be crowded by other large plants. In turn, its floating pads may negatively impact other plants that become shaded out.
[edit] Special Care
To prevent floating leaves shading the tank, the stems can be trimmed before or after the pads reach the water surface.
