Moody Gardens Aquarium
From Microcosm Aquarium Explorer
[edit] Humble Beginnings
Moody Gardens started in a horse barn in the 1980s as a hippotherapy program; today it is an aquarium and rainforest exhibit (both in the shape of a pyramid).
[edit] International Marine Life
The Aquarium’s exhibits range geographically from the Caribbean to the South Atlantic, North Pacific and South Pacific. This translates into a huge diversity of species, from sharks, eels, sea turtles and seals to five kinds of penguins and more hundreds of species of fish.
[edit] The Other Pyramid
The Rainforest Pyramid is a 10-story ecosystem where birds, fish and reptiles co-exist beneath a green canopy and among simulated waterfalls. Here, visitors will find two-toed Sloths and pitcher plants, powderpuff trees and Cotton-Top Tamarins.
