[edit] Overview

The color of this anemone ranges from deep rose to brilliant orange. This species is naturally home to about eight or ten clownfish species.

Other common name(s):

  • Ritteri anemone

Native range:

Maximum height: 100 cm (39 in)

Minimum aquarium size: 1900 L (502 gal)

Lighting: Does best kept under bright lighting.

Water: Marine 24 °C (297 K, 75 °F) - 28 °C (301 K, 82 °F)

[edit] Aquarium Compatibility

It requires good water quality and moderate water movement, along with a solitary perch where it cannot contact any other anemone or nearby coral. Its nematocysts can kill almost all other animals in an aquarium.

[edit] Breeding/Propagation

Observations from natural populations indicate that some may reproduce asexually, but this has rarely been seen in captivity, probably because it is seldom kept under appropriate conditions.
