Janine Cairns-Michael is a native of New Zealand and a professional UW photographer. Having traveled the world, Janine provides photographic content to Coral Realm as well as providing graphic design direction. Janine specializes in invertebrates and slow-moving fishes. Her photographic equipment of choice is the Nexus F4, with the accompanying Nikon camera and a 60mm macro lens.

She lives in Lincoln, Nebraska with her husband and dive partner Scott W. Michael, an author, underwater photographer and marine biology researcher.

In their spare time, Janine and Scott photograph grizzly bears on the Katmai Peninsula of Alaska.
