From Microcosm Aquarium Explorer
[edit] Overview
Vibrant in appearance when properly cared for, this is one of the more common members of the genus and it usually does very well in the reef aquarium. It may take a day or two before it starts spending most of its time in the open.
Family: Labridae
Other common name(s):
- Redfin Flasher Wrasse
- Pink Flasher
Native range:
- Western Pacific
- Philippines
- Taiwan
- Iriomotejima
- Northern Bali
- Flores
- Tonga
Habitat: In nature, this species forms schools and is found above coral or rubble on bases of steep outer reef slopes.
Maximum length: 7.5 cm (3 in)
Minimum aquarium size: 76 L (20 gal)
Water: Marine 24 °C (297 K, 75 °F) - 28 °C (301 K, 82 °F)
[edit] Feeding
Meaty foods, including finely shredded frozen seafood, mysid shrimp, frozen preparations, pigment-enriched flake food, and Cyclop-eeze.
[edit] Aquarium Compatibility
Be sure to provide it with a peaceful community in which to acclimate. Once settled in, adult males may behave aggressively toward conspecifics and male congeners.
[edit] Special Care
Feed at least twice a day or preferably more often.
[edit] Notes
Like others in the genus, an aquarium cover of some form is required to keep them from jumping out of the tank—or into overflow boxes.
