This is one of the numerous butterflies with a specialized diet that consists of live corals. It stubbornly ignores even the best aquarium foods and typically succumbs slowly to a lack of required nutrients.

To be avoided by conscientious aquarists.

Habitat: Coral reefs with heavy Acropora spp. coral cover.

Maximum length: 15 cm (6 in)

General swimming level: Midwater to bottom.

Obligate corallivore. Usually starves in the aquarium.
