Natural aquascaping need not be difficult.
Below are a few top-down views of basic aquarium floorplans. Even aquarists on tight budgets can carry off these plans with as few as three to five pieces of live rock (or even just one or two gnarly larger pieces).
The old standby, stacking rock against the back wall of the aquarium, is discouraged by most experienced aquarists. (It hampers water circulation, interferes with the swimming movements of most fishes, tends to look like a boring heap of rock.)
