Since the Maribor Aquarium opened its doors in 1953, it has been home to flora and fauna typical of Slovenia. It has expanded to include animals from around the world, showcased in thirty-nine large aquariums representing river, lake, and sea habitats. All together in holds almost 150 species of fish, including piranhas, tropical fish, and exhibits from the Adriatic Sea.

[edit] Terrarium

The recently-added Terrarium exhibits over a hundred different species of reptiles, amphibians and insects, including an African mamba, rattlesnake and African cobra. The non-venomous snakes include a python and a boa constrictor. Beyond snakes, be sure to see the turtles, crocodiles, iguanas and Indonesian monitor lizards.
